Welcome to raisin.com !

(Shhh! Yes, these are grapes. In fact they are vintage 2005 grapes grown here at the "Raisin.com Vineyard". Raisins are simply the experienced versions!)

The grape cluster represents both the beginnings of my real PC awareness in Grapevine, Texas as well as an association to how many of us learn and share information, be it around the coffee machine working up the edge from late night keyboard sessions, or lounging about enjoying good wines to keep the edge mellowed, yet with all things in moderation.

Why 'raisin' and not something else ?? - Just try and register the *right* domain name for your site....you'll find that you have to derive and extract a lot of possibilities out of what's left after the domain-squatters have gotten to the domain name registration folks. Go figure......

So many people show us how it's done, or want us to show them how to do it over time. Building a system to bring the world and computing to our youth (Branciforte 'B40' Jr. High) through the Internet, creating a radio systems to share technical details over the 'wireless', remembering and writing about all the things learned so as to credit those who have helped us, and to help others. It's how we keep in touch and what we share that counts.

With the chores of supporting a variety of on-line and off-line network connections, including ISDN and dial-up services, to daily on-line support for various software products, to researching PCs and products to write about them for books and columns, to configuring amateur radio repeater systems and climbing towers to install antennas, there is rarely a dull moment or a time when the electricity is not flowing around here.

To my family and friends - thank you!
Best 73 and Happy Bits!

The truth? You're on the Internet. When you are on the Internet rest-assured that someone's scanned and found your IP address and is now poking around to see if they can get into your system, grab your files, plant a virus or Trojan Horse program or just simply chew up the bandwidth you pay for.

No one has a right to tap into your system, from inside or out, so stop them in their tracks! Yes, I run a hardware 'firewall' which keeps some of the bigger chunks of Internet junk out of your system, but it cannot tell you and won't always stop suspicious activity from getting out of your system to bother others on the Internet.

Adding ZoneAlarm to each and every system you have connected gives you a very easy to use, very controllable means to assure that your inbound and outbound Internet traffic are clean. Get it and install it today!
