The Kingdom of Spain is located in the southwest of Europe on the Iberian Peninsula and borders France, Portugal, Andorra and Morocco. The country has been a member of the European Union since 1986 and, like Germany, introduced the euro as a means of payment in 2002.

As Spain is the second most popular vacation destination in the world, tourism represents the largest part of Spain's economic power. This is followed by the industrial sector and the agricultural sector.

After the recession in 2011, the Spanish economy is again in a steady upswing and is considered one of the fastest and most sustainably growing economies within the European Union.

In Spain, interest income is normally taxed at 19%. Irish customers can reduce this to 0% by providing a tax residency certificate from Irish Revenue. Please see the product information sheet for more details.

Haitong Bank S.A. Sucursal en España was established in Madrid, Spain in 2001. It is the Spanish branch of the Portuguese Haitong Bank S.A., which was established in Lisbon, Portugal in 1983. Haitong Bank S.A.'s business in Spain focuses on investment banking products and services for corporate and institutional clients. These include financial solutions, equities and asset management. As a wholly-owned subsidiary of Haitong Securities, one of the leading investment banks with securities operations in China, Haitong Bank S.A. focuses its extensive range of services on both the domestic and international markets. The bank specialises in particular in the financial markets in Europe, America and Asia.

Please note that Haitong has a banking license in Portugal and offers term deposits via Raisin through its Spanish branch (Sucursal en España) in Madrid. This means that your savings with the bank are covered by the Portuguese deposit guarantee (up to €100,000 per depositor per bank), but Spanish withholding tax applies (which can easily be reduced to 0%).

The Southern European country has been a member of the EU since 1986, was a founding member of NATO, and introduced the euro as its currency in 2002 upon its inception. It should be noted that this protection relates to a customer's entire deposits with a bank. This is relevant if not only the deposits of a customer brokered via Raisin Bank were invested with a particular bank, but also other deposits of this customer were invested with the respective bank.

Italy is a republic in Southern Europe, one of the world's largest economies, and ranked among the most highly developed countries according to the Human Development Index. Italy is a founding member of the EU, and the euro has been legal tender since 2002. Germany is Italy's most important trading partner in terms of both exports and imports.

This amount also includes possible deposits and/or savings accounts ordered outside Raisin Bank. This protection covers the deposits of all natural persons, not only Swedish citizens.   In the event of an intervention by the Swedish DGS, the payment shall be made in Euros to your Raisin Account, within 7 business days from the time the DGS comes into effect. In this case, the exchange rate applied will be the one valid at the time of the bank’s administrative settlement process and is thus subject to currency fluctuations.
