At Raisin, we take seriously our responsibility to protect the privacy and confidentiality of information about you. We are committed to earning and maintaining your trust by safeguarding your personal information and making its protection a priority. 

We wrote this Privacy Policy to help you understand the types of Personal Information we collect through our Website; how we use, disclose, and share this Personal Information; the choices you have regarding such use; and other important information. This Privacy Policy also applies to those we interact with in our business relationships. Although some of the concepts below are a bit technical, we tried our best to explain things in a straight-forward and transparent way. Scope of Our Privacy Policy 

This Privacy Policy applies to information collected through our website (www.raisin.com/en-us), any other online products and services including mobile apps that display or link to this Privacy Policy as well as information provided by you to us in connection with your use of the Website such as correspondence, chats, or calls with our customer service team (collectively, "Website" or "Site"). This Privacy Policy does not apply to websites, mobile apps, or other online products and services that have their own Privacy Policy or otherwise do not display or link to this Privacy Policy. 

How We Collect Information 

When you access or use the Website, we may collect information that identifies you ("Personal Information"), and we may also collect information that does not identify you ("Non-Identified Information"). We obtain information about you in a range of ways. 

Information We Collect 

We collect Personal Information that you submit or otherwise choose to provide, as well as personal information received from our partners and service providers, advertising networks, internet service providers, data analytics providers, government entities, operating systems and platforms, social networks, and data brokers. To obtain our products and services or to create an account with us, we will ask you to provide certain Personal Information. If you choose not to provide this information, you will be unable to obtain our products and services. 

Personal Information means information that identifies, relates to, describes, is capable of being associated with, or could reasonably be linked directly or indirectly to you or your household, such as your name, postal address, email address, telephone number, Social Security number, financial account number, or similar information. The Personal Information we may collect includes:

  • Identifiers, such as your first and last name, email address, address, date of birth, Social Security number, and similar identifiers;
  • Commercial information, such as a record of the products or services you have purchased or considered;
  • Biometric information;
  • Internet or other electronic network activity;
  • Geolocation;
  • Audio and electronic information;
  • Professional or employment-related information;
  • Inferences from any of the personal information you have provided; and
  • Personal banking information you provide to us.

The Personal Information we collect also includes sensitive Personal Information ("Sensitive Personal Information"), such as Social Security number, banking information, account log-in, and precise geolocation. Raisin conducts identity verification through Veriff, which may also require the collection of facial images, such as headshots from your identification card and selfie photographs. Veriff also collects information about the device accessing a Raisin account to analyze the risk of fraud. By creating an account with Raisin, you acknowledge and agree that the terms of Veriff's Privacy Policy will govern Veriff's use of such information. 

Raisin offers account linking and aggregation services through Plaid ("Plaid"). By using account linking and aggregation services, you acknowledge and agree that the terms of Plaid's Privacy Policy will govern Plaid's use of such information, and you expressly agree to the terms and conditions of Plaid's Privacy Policy. Further, you expressly grant Plaid the right, power, and authority to access and transmit your information as reasonably necessary for Plaid to provide these services to you. If you receive customer service by telephone or via chat from Raisin, you acknowledge and agree that those service calls and chats may be recorded. 

Personal Information From Third Parties 

We may also receive Personal Information about you from third parties. For example, by linking your bank account at your external financial institution, you disclose information regarding that account with us. By using the Website, you consent to our use of Personal Information provided by your financial institution in accordance with their Privacy Policy and ours. We additionally receive information about you from fraud management services and identity verification vendors which we use to fight fraud, keep the Website secure and comply with applicable laws. If we combine such information with the Personal Information that we collect from you, we will treat the combined information as Personal Information under this Privacy Policy. We may also obtain information about you from commercially available sources such as data brokers, data aggregators, and public databases. This information may include your name, demographic information, interests and publicly observed data (such as from social media and shopping behavior). 

Non-Identified Information 

In addition, we collect certain non-identified information automatically when you visit or engage with our Site regarding your computer or device or your interaction with our Site. This information may include the date and time your browser requested our Site, the pages of our Site visited or features used, or other non-identified information about your use of our Site or advertisements ("ads"). Our Website uses common technologies that automatically collect certain information about your computer or device and your interaction with our Sites and ads. These technologies include cookies, pixel tags, server logs, and statistical identifiers. We may combine the Personal Information we collect through our Site with information we collect through other sites or online services. We may also combine information collected through our Site with information collected offline or obtained by our partners and other third parties. Disclosure of Personal Information 

We do not sell, trade, or otherwise transfer to outside parties your Personal Information unless we provide you with advance notice or as otherwise described in this Privacy Policy and as follows: 

  • If you request or authorize it;

  • To complete a transaction or provide a service requested by you;
  • With the banks and credit unions at which your funds are deposited and with the banks acting as your custodian or performing funds transfer services for you;
  • With our third-party service providers that provide services to support the Website, such as financial institutions, banking account verification, anti-money laundering and customer identification services, payment processing, data analysis, email delivery, hosting, order fulfillment, infrastructure, network storage, customer service, technical support, and promotional services;
  • To comply with applicable laws, rules, and regulations, including but not limited to tax laws and bank secrecy, anti-money laundering and know-your-customer requirements;
  • To comply with governmental and regulatory requests, court orders, and subpoenas;
  • To protect our rights, property, and safety and the rights, property, and safety of our users and others or to prevent fraud; or
  • To enforce our rights arising from any contracts entered into between you and us, including the Terms of Service;

In addition, during the normal course of our business, Raisin may sell or purchase assets. If another entity acquires us or any of our assets, information we collect from and about you (and your device) may be transferred to such entity. In addition, if any bankruptcy or reorganization proceeding is brought by or against us, such information may be considered an asset of ours and may be sold or transferred to third parties. Should such a sale or transfer occur, we will use reasonable efforts to try to require that the transferee use the information we collect from and about you (and your device) in a manner that is consistent with this Privacy Policy. However, non-identified information may be provided to other parties for marketing, advertising, or other uses. 

We may disclose the above categories of Personal Information that we have collected to third parties, including advertising networks, internet service providers, data analytics providers, government entities, operating systems and platforms, social networks, and data brokers.

Raisin does not hold any customer funds. Customer funds are held in various custodial deposit accounts. Each customer authorizes the Custodial Bank to hold the customer’s funds in such accounts, in a custodial capacity, in order to effectuate the customer’s deposits to and withdrawals from the various bank and credit union products that the customer requests through Raisin.com. The Custodial Bank does not establish the terms of the bank or credit union products and provides no advice to customers about bank or credit union products offered by the applicable bank or credit union through Raisin.com. Each customer also authorizes the Service Bank to move funds among the various banks and credit unions at the customer’s request. First International Bank & Trust (FIBT), Member FDIC, is the Service Bank. Bell Bank and Starion Bank, each Member FDIC, are the Custodial Banks.

†Based on $250,000 in FDIC or NCUA insurance coverage per insurable category of ownership at each partner bank or credit union on the Raisin platform (each a "Product Bank"), when aggregated with all other deposits held by you at such Product Bank and in the same insurable category. Deposits made through Raisin will be eligible to receive deposit insurance from the FDIC or the NCUA (each a "Deposit Insurer") in accordance with and up to the maximum amount permitted by law at each Product Bank. Raisin is not a bank or credit union and does not hold any customer funds. Funds are held at FDIC-insured banks and NCUA-insured credit unions. Deposit insurance covers the failure of an insured bank or credit union. Certain conditions must be satisfied for pass through deposit insurance coverage to apply. Customers may choose to deposit funds with identically registered accounts at different Product Banks on the Raisin platform to be eligible for Deposit Insurer coverage up to $10 million for individual accounts and $20 million for joint accounts when at least 40 Product Banks are utilized. Please be aware, however, that any deposits you have at a Product Bank, whether through the Raisin platform or outside the Raisin platform, that you may hold in the same capacity (such as in an individual capacity or joint capacity) count toward the applicable Deposit Insurer's deposit insurance maximum amount, and any such amounts that you hold in the same capacity at a Product Bank that exceed the maximum insurance coverage by the applicable Deposit Insurer will not be insured. You are solely responsible for monitoring the amount of funds you have on deposit at each a Product Bank, whether through the Raisin platform or outside the Raisin platform, to confirm that the deposits you hold in the same capacity at each Product Bank do not exceed the maximum deposit insurance coverage provided by the applicable Deposit Insurer.
